C-Flat Narrow Lap Welders

Coil Width: 18" to 76" (457 mm to 1930 mm)

Coil Thickness: .006" to .125" (0.15 mm to 3.2 mm)

Applications:
C-Flat welding is a high-speed joining process suitable for many steel types and analyses, including uncoated low carbon, medium carbon, HSLA, silicon and ferritic stainless, as well as steels with conductive coatings of tin, paint, chrome, aluminum, zinc and lead. Essentially, the C-Flat Welder is used whenever a minimum thickness type of joint is required and the maximum strip thickness does not exceed .125" (3.2 mm).

Description:
Taylor-Winfield's C-Flat Welder of the AC or DC type is a C-frame machine to bridge the gap between a conventional Narrow-Lap Welder and the more elaborate Prep/Lap Welder. This technique uses the Narrow-Lap welding method followed in the same pass by pressurized planishing rolls. Due to the maximum limit placed on the steel thickness, the resulting joint final over thickness nearly equals that obtainable with the dual pass Prep/Lap welding technique.

This C-Flat welder has gained popularity in CA lines, galvanizing lines, terne plate lines, tinning lines, can stock lines and any other line requiring a high quality, thin joint and since only a single pass is required, the overall welding time is comparable to the Narrow-Lap Welder. Taylor-Winfield's C-Flat Welders are also available as fully automatic units where a computer or PLC controls the weld parameter setup and (if required) the welder sequence.

Preloader/retractor mechanisms can be added to further reduce the overall cycle time and assure fast, accurate coil end alignment.
