Robert P. Matteson, Director of Technology, Product Development and Labs for The Taylor-Winfield Corp. Brookfield, Ohio was awarded the prestigious “Elihu Thomson Resistance Welding
Award” for his contributions to the technology and application of resistance welding.
The award was presented to Mr. Matteson by the Resistance Welders Manufacturers’ Association (RWMA) at the American Welding Society (AWS) convention on April 6, 2004 in Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Matteson is a long-standing member of the RWMA, where he has served on the Board of Directors.
He is also a member of the American Welding Society (AWS) and the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST). During his 37 year career with Taylor-Winfield, Mr. Matteson has been involved in all aspects of engineering and product development, and holds several patents in resistance welding. His most recent patent, the “TwinLap” seam welding process, is designed for steel producers that process automotive grade materials.
