1. Only with straddle type or current collector bearings. 2. Not considering the vertical adjustability of lower arm. 3. Other electrical ratings
can be provided on special order. (See Electrical Specifications). 8-step tap switch is mounted at rear of welder. Series-Parallel tap switch (at extra cost), also mounted at rear of welder. 4. With knurl,
friction roll or gear driven heads. Based on 5" diameter electrodes if gear driven. Custom speed ranges also available.
Weld Wheel Electrodes driven by GEAR (upper and/or lower), KNURL (upper and/or
lower), or FRICTION (upper and/or lower).
Flood water cooling is standard. If not desired, it may be shut off. Weld shafts are internally water cooled. Welding Heads have anti-friction bearings and needle
bearing current pick-up, which run in a sealed oil bath.
Electrode Drive Arrangement The weld wheels may idle, or be rotated by a variable speed DC electric motor and gear reducer combination. A variety
of wheel drive arrangements can be applied to either the circumferential or longitudinal welder.
1. Single gear drive, driving either the upper or the lower electrode wheel with the other electrode idling.
2. Single knurl drive, driving either the upper or lower electrode wheel, with the other electrode idling. 3. Double knurl drive, driving both the upper and lower electrode wheels.
Transformer & Tap Switch The welding transformer is a stacked core with a single turn secondary of water-cooled electrolytic copper rolled bar stock.
Four primary coils are pancake type, insulated
with mica and glass tape. They are interleaved with the transformer secondaries and tapped for 8-steps and series-parallel connections. Both 8-step and series-parallel tap switches are available for adjustments of
welder secondary voltage.
Cooling The welder is water cooled through separate water circuits for the welder transformer, current carrying bearings, and terminals, along with provisions to cool the
electronic switching circuit.
In addition, flood cooling is made available for direct applications on the work during welding.
For flood coolant, an ample drain pan is provided, which has a large outlet for gravity type drain.
Extra Features Other features available are: air filter with automatic water drain, silver plated
secondary surfaces, and current collector type weld wheel bearings.

CONTROL OPERATING VOLTAGE will be same as welder power supply unless otherwise specified. Initiating switch voltage is 24, and solenoid valve voltage is 115.
TRANSFORMER
SECONDARY VOLTAGES and other electrical characteristics will be furnished as shown above, unless otherwise specified.
LEADS FOR WELDING POWER supply are provided within the welder frame so that power
connections can be made at customer's convenience.
THE TAYLOR-WINFIELD CORPORATION recommends the above indicated fusible isolation switches and cable sizes, but purchaser should check local and state
electrical code requirements.
SHORT CIRCUIT CURRENT MEASUREMENTS are taken at standard 5" diameter electrodes in contact. * Recommended only with 500 lbs. max. force and low duty cycle application such
as welding non-ferrous materials.
